The Ravenala Attitude is located right on the beach south of Grand Baie on the northwest side of the island. A sense of calm and harmony arises directly when we arrive at the hotel. One cannot believe that the hotel houses 272 rooms, 10 restaurants, large pool areas, two tennis courts and a gym. Because of the large, well-planned area and the beautiful architecture, it feels very cozy and personal here. The hotel is shared with fine green spaces and the tropical atmosphere is complimented by the parrot’s beautiful sounds.
Beautiful room with plenty of space
We stayed in a family room of 72 sqm where the children slept in a part of the room and me and my husband in the second part. We had a crib pre-booked to Judith.
The rooms are fresh and nice, modern decorated with lovely neutral colors. The bathroom has two washbasins, a shower and a bathtub, allowing everyone to fit and can do several things at once. Our room was in Suterräng which meant that the entrance to our room was on the ground floor which is optimal if you have a pram or otherwise have difficulty climbing stairs. In the other direction we had a large, lovely balcony out to the garden. Wifi is available in all areas of the hotel.
Food at the hotel
Mauritius is renowned for its fantastic cuisine. Here you eat a mixture of Indian, French, Chinese, Japanese and creole food.
There are 10 restaurants in the hotel, but 3 of them are adults-only. Here is the “dine around” concept where you can choose to dine at any restaurant you want. However, it may be a good idea to pre-book the restaurants one week ahead on arrival at the hotel so that you can certainly try all the restaurants. Book makes you easy at a special place in the restaurant area.
The restaurants in the hotel are different, e.g. Has A Tavola Italian cuisine, Kot Nou has Mauritian food, Madame Ming asian food. Our children liked the burgers at The Bistro, which also serves salads. On the beach, the Beach BBQ serves a buffet. Here you can bring shovel and bucket so children can sit in the sand next to the table and play after the meal while adults eat clearly.
Do you have all inclusive starter, main course and dessert at all the restaurants in the hotel, so there is always something good that children can eat. We ate the breakfast buffet at the main restaurant mosaic where you can choose from all the corners of the world. The favorites for our children were muesli with milk, pancakes with Nutella, omelette that the staff fried in place with optional ingredients in, and the nice fruit.
In the afternoons, tea, coffee, juices and pancakes are served in one of the lounges. The children loved the pancakes and the different toppingarna you could have on. Water bottles are available free of charge at the hotel. On day trips you can pick up several bottles at the same time and the day before, you can also order a picnic free of charge to take along on the excursion.
Pool
The Ravenala Attitude has a fantastic pool area where children have their own pool and adults. Of course, you can move freely between these areas, which are right next to each other. The children’s pool is large and shallow with a depth of 40 cm. Part of the pool is shaded by a sail that protects against the sun’s strong rays. Judith loved to sit in Pooltrappan and pour with her jug and her bucket. Wilhelm and Hjalmar had a little ball they threw to each other or played with their inflatable dolphin that we had bought in the shop at the hotel.
There are plenty of sun beds to stretch out on, and around the pool grow palm trees. Judith sometimes slept her lunchlur in her buggy under the swaying palm trees. However, do not place the wagon under a palm with coconuts at the risk of a nut falling down.
Hotel Beach
The beach is adjacent to the hotel so here you can go barefoot to the beach if you want. The water can sometimes be somewhat cloudy here but incredibly warm and nice. Here, children can swim for a long time, but take the opportunity to have an ice-cream break in the heat. You can clearly spend a few hours in the shade on a sun lounger while the children dig in the sand. However, I love to walk along the beach with the kids and look for fine shells and other exciting things that washed ashore. Here, however, you need thongs for the corals and the snails are extremely sharp.
The hotel has a small bungalow on the beach where you can book snorkelutflykter, glass-bottom boat tours, kayaks, pedal boats and paddleboards. This is free if you have all-inclusive. We made a trip with a glass bottom boat which the kids thought was very exciting. We saw fish and corals. I, Wilhelm and Hjalmar also went out on a dolphin when we heard someone tell me that dolphins were playing in a bay further afield. Unfortunately, the dolphins had disappeared when we got there. Life jackets are available to borrow on the beach but we had with us the children’s own life jackets from home.

Bamse-Blue Star Hotel
Because The Ravenala Attitude is a Blue Star hotel, Bamse welcomed a few times a week to the children’s great delight. During our stay we also had time to rock at Bamsediscot a few times.
The Scandinavian TUI staff also organizes games in the pool every weekday, which is a fun way for children to get to know other children at the hotel.
Kids Club
The hotel has an international children’s club that organises fun activities for children throughout the day. Among other things, they have crab hunting on the beach in the evening with flashlights. Our children did not try the kids club but sometimes we played in their enclosure where we kicked some ball.
Shop at the hotel
At the hotel there is a small shop where you can buy clothes and swimwear for both adults and children, sand toys, inflatable poolleksaker, sun hats, souvenirs, etc.
Day trip to other Attitude hotels on the island
If you live and have all inclusive at an Attitude hotel on the island, you can make a day trip to another hotel in the group. Ask the staff for help to contact the other hotel so they can receive you when you arrive. In Mauritius there are seven of these hotels scattered on the island.
We chose to visit the small cozy boutique hotel Friday Attitude located on the eastside of the island. The taxi ride is for yourself, but the lunch at the hotel you visit is included. We had a great day at the small cozy hotel Friday Attitude. Good lunch buffet, Poolbad and swimming on the beach adjacent to the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, although we were just visiting for the day.
Sustainability splashes at the Attitude chain
2014 started the hotel chain Green Attitude Foundation that works with the environment and sustainability on the island. Among other things, they work to replant mangroves along the coast, support projects in marine flora and fauna, hold environmental educations for their staff, support local craftsmen and musicians, and sponsor various cultural events.
Our perception of the hotel
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great pool area for children where also shade is available.
